Kirsten was extremely quick, efficient, and delivered beautiful layouts that helped us visualize our remodel…. But of all the advice I could give to people starting a remodel it would be to work with an independent person to help design your dream house first, and then deal with getting it built. For me, I am pretty detailed and organized and was very clear that I wanted no major cost overruns or big surprises on my project, and Kirsten’s layouts were a huge part of such a successful completion of our project.

Ever since I was a child I’ve enjoyed planning innovative layouts and functional, beautiful interiors.  That early passion for design led me to the University of Washington where I earned my degree in Architecture in 1992. After spending three years at the Seattle Design Center I co-founded Satterberg Desonier Dumo Interior Design in 1995 with my mother and business partner, Nancy Satterberg, ASID.

Over the last 20 years, Satterberg Desonier Dumo Interior Design has been honored with many design awards, including a Gold MAME award for Custom Home of the Year.  Our work has been featured in many publications, including Sunset, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles, This Old House and Money Magazine.  I worked side-by-side with my mother on projects large and small, near and far, until her retirement in 2008.

My natural gift of deeply listening supports my clients by understanding and translating their needs into interiors that are both beautiful and highly livable. The part I love the most is the creative process; taking a project from the problem–solving design phase, through specification of colors, finishes and furnishings, to the installation of the completed space.  I value working as a team, with clients, contractor, architect and tradespeople to create a finished project that is functional and livable, yet captures the aesthetics of my clients’ vision.

I am originally from Canada and have been proud to call Seattle my home for over 35 years.  My family and I enjoy living in our wonderful Magnolia neighborhood.  In my spare time, I love planning international adventures for my family and reading as much as possible.

I really enjoy helping my clients maximize the utility of small spaces with character – whether it’s designing new construction or remodels for luxury homeowners.
